#1 Moderne Burger

Steak Burger

2507 West Broadway St., Vancouver

Here is the winner.  The platter comes with too many fries for one person to eat, so it can be shared by three people.  The burger is fantastic, the meat has an excellent taste and once you add your fixings, the burger tastes even better.  Be prepared to spend 10 dollars or so when you split the cost of the fries and add your mushrooms and cheese on the burger.

Best Feature - Great tasting meat and nicely toasted bun. Great atmosphere

Worst Feature - Toppings add up quickly and make the burger pricey

Price: About 12 dollars

Tie #2 Cactus Club

The Burger aka Feenie's Burger

Various Locations

The original Feenies burger was better but this import to Cactus Club is still very tasty. The meat is a nice size and has a great taste to it and the fries have a light taste to them.  I had to place it in a tie with the White Sport Burger

Best Feature - Well rounded burger with a decent environment

Worst Feature - 14 bucks

Price: $14.00

Tie #2 White Spot

Monty Mushroom (fries not shown)

Various Locations

I love this burger.  Pretty simple but a great taste.  Not sure what it is that makes me love it, the triple O sauce or the memories. I don't like too much oooze so sometimes I scrape a little off. I always add lettuce and tomato to this joint.  No matter what anyone says, I love this burger.

Best Feature - Triple OOO sauce

Worst Feature - hmmmm.  Can't think of one.

Price: $9.49 (but the price just went up)

#3 Save On Meats

Buffalo Burger

43 West Hastings St, Vancouver

Easily the best deal for a burger in the city. The deluxe burger is $3.99 with fries and tax!!! Fresh cut fries, fresh ground beef and double patties.  The burger is greasy but really tasty. The meat has a nice taste to it, and the fixings make for an enjoyable sitting.

If you take away the value, this burger wins best greasy spoon burger in the city but there are many other cleaner burgers I rather have.  Better than Veras.

Best Feature - Cheapest greasy spoon burger.  Double patty, fresh ground beef and fresh cut fries.

Worst Feature - walking to it and occasionally sitting beside some interesting people

Price: $7.00

#4 Splitz Burger

4242 Main Street

Burger with mushrooms

This place is all about the toppings.  You can add all different types of sauces such as garlic mayo, salsa, humous, tzatziki and vegetables like lettuce, onions, cucumbers, pickles, and some others.

The burger gets packed and gets very messy.  Sometimes one bite will taste way different from the next because you just bit into a pocket of sauces.

Best Feature - Tons of toppings to choose from.

Worst Feature - the toppings get sloppy.

Price: About 11 dollars with fries and drink.

#5 Vera's Burger

Various Locations

Maybe the organic burger was the wrong call.  The meat was almost too lean, it lacked flavor.  Last time at Veras I thought my burger was good but not great.  This time it lacked some flavor.  Either, way this it places at fifth.  Splitz is better but not by much.  The organic burger isn't cheap, $7.99 and then you add the cheese and mushrooms and then make it a combo and you are somehow paying 14 dollars.

Best Feature: Lots of locations

Worst Feature: It is not that good.

#6 The Red Onion

Burger with cheese.

2028 West 41 St Ave

The burger starts cheap at 7.25 but then you got to add fries, and then cheese or bacon and the price quickly goes up.  The lean meat in the burger was nice but overall it taste similar to a White Spot burger without the triple ooo sauce. Which means I rather go to White Spot.

Best Feature - lean meat

Worst Feature -umm, I just rather have White Sport.

#7 Burgers Etc

Burger add mushrooms and cheese

4091 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC

This restaurant boasts to have the best burger as voted by CBC viewers.  I did not find the burger anything to write home about.  The taste was average and the meat was a little bit on the dry side.  When I added the mushrooms and cheese on the burger, it became fairly expensive.

Best Feature - Nothing stands out.

Worst Feature - Toppings add up and make the burger pricey

Price: $11.00

#8 Wendy's

Quarter Pound Single

Various Locations

For fast food, this tastes the cleanest to me.  A nice piece of crisp lettuce, a tomato and some raw onions and that crazy square patty.

Me likes but I like the Teen Burger and the Whopper Jr more.

Last place but still holds a place in my heart - Mc Donald's

Hamburger

Various Locations

Not much to say here.  I like the ghetto taste of the bun and the size of the burger.  It is a nice fit when you want a small quick snack.  You can ask them to add lettuce, onions, and other fixings on it.  I always ask for more diced onions.

Best Feature - only 5 mins away from anything and open late

Worst Feature - it's McDonalds.

Price: under $1.50
